Donation pen Johann Strauss

With the Montblanc Donation Pen Johann Strauss Fountain pen, Montblanc is paying tribute to the great Austrian composer of Operettas and Viennese waltz, also known as “The Waltz King”.

Johann Strauss, often referred to as Johann Strauss II, was born on October 25, 1825, in Vienna, Austria. His father, Johann Strauss the Elder, was a self-taught musician who established a musical dynasty in Vienna, writing waltzes, galops, polkas and quadrilles and publishing more than 250 works. Johann the Younger went on to write more than 500 musical compositions, 150 of which were waltzes, and he surpassed both his father’s productivity and popularity. Compositions such as An der schönen blauen Donau helped establish Strauss as “the Waltz King” and earned him a place in music history. Johann Strauss died in Vienna in June 1899.

The Montblanc Donation Pen Johann Strauss piston Fountain pen, based on the 146 model, is made of black precious resin with champagne gold plated details. Dedicated to Strauss’s greatest passion – playing the violin – the clip is shaped like a violin bow. Also the ink window, cognac colored, is inspired by the violin color (wood). The champagne gold plated cap ring is delicately engraved with the signature of Johann Strauss as well as the Montblanc lettering. The champagne tone plated 14kt gold nib is adorned with an engraving of a bat, as a reminiscence to his most famous operetta Die Fledermaus.

The Montblanc Donation Pen Johann Strauss Fountain pen comes in a special gift box with complementary music box playing on excerpt of his world famous waltz An der schönen blauen Donau.
